Kohima is the capital city of India's North Eastern state of Nagaland is well connected by airport, rail, and road. Kohima is served by the Dimapur Airport located in Dimapur, 74 kilometres from the city centre of Kohima. Nagaland houses one central university, three private universities, six AICTE-approved engineering colleges, two ITIs, three polytechnic institutes, 46 arts colleges, nine science colleges, and 16 commerce colleges. Moreover, around 60% of Nagaland’s population is in the working age group of 15-59 years. With a total population of 2.3 million, majority of the population speaks English, which is greater advantage for IT/ITeS industry.

Nagaland is the only state in India where the state is acting as Service Centre Agency without engaging private companies for running Common Service Centres. It is also the first state in India in the e-District Mission Mode Project. Govt. of Nagaland has formulated Nagaland IT Policy 2021 and Nagaland Startup Policy 2019 to promote IT/ITeS industry and startups in the state.

Presence of STPI-Kohima will provide further fillip to the growth paradigm of Nagaland by enabling the ecosystem and empowering local entrepreneurs and tech startups to contribute towards bolstering software exports and creating employment opportunities for the local talent pool.
