Location: Lucknow shows the signs of fast emerging cities in India when the region has reached Rs.200 crore of export within a small period, which is a substantial growth for Tier II city. Lucknow has also emerged as a "Science City" with numerous national level laboratories, premier medical colleges like SGPGI having focused research in biostatics and health informatics, two universities along with an engineering college and management institute.

Partners: The partner ecosystem comprises as Dept. of IT & Electronics, Govt. of UP; SGPGI, Lucknow; Association of Indian Medical Device Industry (AiMED); Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) and Kalam Institute of Health Technology (KIHT) including additional collaborators like Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur; General Electric; Wipro; Siemens and Philips (India).

Target Beneficiaries: The CoE intends to support & nurture 50 startups over a period of 5 years.

Duration: The COE will work initially for a period of 5 years, which may be extended further at a mutual discretion of SGPGI and STPI.

Budget & Source of Funding: The total budget outlay for this CoE is Rs 22 crores shared amongst the stakeholders including the Govt. of UP granting Rs. 10 crores, MeitY contributing Rs. 6 crores and seed funding support up to Rs.25 Lakh per incubate by AIC-AMTZ Medi Valley Incubation Council on behalf of AMTZ.

Facilities & Services

The facility encompasses:

  • 18,000 sq. ft. ready-to-work, plug & play incubation space.
  • Complete access to medical electronics lab equipped with sample bank of instruments, analysers, clinical consumables, imaging and optical devices, test equipment & technical support
  • Availability of MediElectronics & Health Informatics Lab and IoT Lab Access to technical mentoring, funding and marketing support

This CoE will stimulate the growth of startups in the field of medical electronics and health informatics and strengthen the domestic manufacturing capability of reliable and affordable medical electronics products and services thereby reducing dependencies on imports by providing state-of-the-art infrastructure, world-class laboratories, mentoring, marketing, funding and the much-needed ecosystem while contributing to the vision of flagship government programmes such as Make in India, Digital India and Startup India.
